Welcome!

Bono Film & Video is proud of its long record in promoting student understanding of the motion picture craft. As the landscape for media making has changed drastically in the last few years, we have decided to re-think how best to help students learn in this constantly evolving industry. Taking their cues from the industry, many "film schools" have, in fact, become digital video schools. We recognize that the role of motion picture film has been reduced and that students are telling their stories in digital video as well as film. The transfer of film to video, when students originate on film, is now an expected step, as is the input into digital non-linear video editing software. A few very innovative academic programs are even migrating to High Definition for capture as well as for transfer and delivery.

Given the incredible hikes in processing chemistry over the last few years and the corresponding reduction in demand for processing, we  discontinued our student discounts on all film processing in 2004.  We discontinued all processing in 2006.

Now for some good news....
In recognition of the new "workflows"  being explored in the schools, we will be placing the emphasis on helping students with the whole process from film to tape or hard drive (whether transfers are in Standard Definition or High Definition). Students and independent filmmakers who are shooting on film need a cost effective incentive to keep them originating on film.  If your program is moving into some of the newest technologies, we invite you to visit our technical initiatives division at Bonolabs. There you will find our high definition film to hard drive service described as well as our "Configure Your Own G5" workshop. Recent new "tapeless" options include DVCPro HD  files (for MAC) and HDV files for both the MAC and PC. Of course, our 10-bit uncompressed files are available for both MAC and PC. Our Bonolabsnews page will help keep you up-to-date on recent developments. We welcome your questions and feedback on our new services.
